Cities have always been a population magnet. So much so that some countries have national policies aimed at investing in rural areas, to reduce the attraction of urban life. Many predict that, by 2030, 60% of the world’s population will live in urban areas. Even today, the figure is 50%.
Biomega makes a range of bikes, both mechanical and electric, all of them aimed at people who need to travel in and out of towns and cities. They all share a simplicity of design and quality of construction but their appeal is very broad, as is their purpose. Which is why men and women of all ages can be seen enjoying Biomega, whether riding to the office or delivering boxes.
Even today, metal chains are still the predominant way of transferring power from pedal to wheel, even though most cyclists who commute moan about oily fingers and clunking gears. We were one of the first cycle manufacturers to ditch the chain when we introduced our non-electric bikes.
The discussion front and rear wheel drive in cars is the subject of fierce debate. Even major manufacturers cannot agree. In the end it comes down to the feelings and preferences of the driver. And this is also the case when the driver is a cyclist.
As the designers of the entire bicycle, we had the freedom to put the OKO’s motor anywhere we wanted. Rather than the rear wheel or the crank, we chose the front of the bike.
